Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway has received a BV Pulsera C-arm image intensifier from Philips UKI.  The system replaced existing Philips C-arm equipment and comes with an array of features.  It will be used primarily to provide orthopaedic trauma cover and laparoscopic cholangiograms.

Acting radiology manager Jane MacDonald said: “Our radiographers were already familiar with Philips’ C-arms from our previous equipment and this made the transition easier.  The BV Pulsera is a good, reliable system and Philips provides excellent service which, given our location, is a particularly important factor.

“We are achieving excellent image quality and it is very user-friendly.  We particularly like the laser light for positioning and also the monitor for the radiographer’s use.

“The Philips team was very helpful to deal with; it managed the project very well including the training of all the staff and they were also able to secure buy-back for our old equipment.”
