Siemens Healthineers refreshes ultrasound range

Siemens Healthineers presented its refreshed Acuson ultrasound range at this year’s European Congress of Radiology in Vienna. The updates are designed to bring more clinical adaptability and address challenges across various clinical applications.

Versatility is enhanced through the introduction of 12 transducers across four ultrasound systems and the expansion of AI-powered tools, to drive efficiency and consistency for clinicians.

“The expansion of our ultrasound family of products is the most comprehensive portfolio update in the last decade, demonstrating our commitment to offering a new level of versatility that increases diagnostic accuracy for clinicians and patients,” said president of ultrasound Ajay Gannerkote. “These new releases provide scalable and flexible solutions that meet needs across most clinical areas.”

Acuson Sequoia 2.02 expands clinical excellence to MSK imaging and 3D/4D obstetrics while continuing to innovate in paediatrics, vascular and breast imaging. Four new transducers provide a clearer, deeper perspective for each use case. Innovations include a 3D/4D volume transducer, as well as AutoDoppler which can reduce carotid scan time and eliminate 25 per cent of keystrokes by automatically steering and positioning colour and pulsed Doppler. New insights and precision in quantitative ultrasound are delivered through next generation breast shear wave elastography and the migration of Ultrasound Derived Fat Fraction (UDFF) to the new 9C2 paediatric transducer.

“I was blown away by the ease of use and informative aspects. Accurate, reliable and easy to use, it is a gamechanger,” said King’s College University Hospital, London, professor of radiology Paul Sidhu, speaking about UDFF.

Acuson Redwood 2.0 makes early diagnosis more affordable and accessible with the addition of three transducers, advanced 3D/4D imaging for obstetrics and gynaecology and expansion of AI-powered tools. To support cost-effective methods for early diagnosis and monitoring of various MSK injuries and conditions, MSK users can access a line-up of linear transducers optimised for MSK imaging, including the ergonomic and lightweight 18H6 hockey stick transducer.

Acuson Juniper 2.02 integrated battery support allows up to 75 minutes of unplugged scanning for bedside assessment. As obesity and chronic liver disease increase, specialists can access the 6C1 single crystal transducer equipped with contrast-enhanced ultrasound and liver elastography to undertake liver evaluation. The new 14L4 all-in-one linear transducer offers versatility in clinical imaging as a single transducer for breast, vascular, MSK and small parts imaging.

Acuson P500 3.0 provides a fully equipped compact ultrasound system. New additions include three transducers and applications designed to expand clinical flexibility at the bedside. The lightweight 18H5 hockey stick transducer delivers high resolution near-field imaging for dynamic MSK assessment at the point of care. The Lung and FAST examination preset and reporting allow for rapid emergency and critical care assessment.
