Singleton’s cardiac CT images are ‘best ever’

In the bore of an Aquilion One scanner are superintendent radiographer Alison Thomas and consultant radiologist Dr Derrian Markham.
Singleton Hospital, Swansea, part of Abertawe Bro Morgannwg Health Board, has acquired a Toshiba Aquilion One CT scanner, replacing an existing Toshiba 16-slice scanner.
Radiology services manager Chris Morris said: “The clinical user team that selected the equipment felt the Aquilion One was a clear market leader due to its ability to perform whole organ perfusion studies with minimal scan times and reduced radiation doses.”
Aquilion One is said to be the world’s first dynamic volume CT scanner, that can scan a heart in a single heartbeat while administering a fifth of the radiation dose of conventional scanners.
