Small and quiet system chosen for North Tees breast unit

Philips Healthcare ultrasound applications specialist Suman Bassi, consultant practitioner Julia Shannon, radiographic assistants Debbie Johnston and Lauren Curtis, consultant practitioner Rosalind Tetlow and advanced practitioner Claire Taylor.
North Tees and Hartlepool Trust has invested in Philips’ latest ultrasound systems for its breast unit. Designed for high volume usage, the trust purchased two Affiniti 70 women’s healthcare ultrasound scanners, one as a replacement for existing equipment and the second as an additional system.
Breast unit manager Joyce Iredale said: “We selected the Philips systems for various reasons, including its small size and the fact that the system is almost silent. It achieves excellent image quality and is very user-friendly and ergonomic. The additional piece of equipment will allow us to expand our service and provide on-the-spot breast ultrasound examinations. It will also give us the facility to train new members of the consultant practitioner team and registrars without impacting services. The training and support from Philips has been excellent, with a brilliant new team put together specifically to cover women’s health areas.”
