St Helens Hospital, Merseyside, has received the second Signa Lift MRI upgrade in the UK, with GE Healthcare transforming an old Signa HDX MRI into a Signa Explorer. The upgrade enables the hospital to reset the life of its MRI machine, using the existing magnet, to obtain the latest GE technology at a lower cost.
“We decided to upgrade to Signa Explorer through the Lift program to reduce the cost of a new MRI,” said radiology clinical practice manager Ian Sutton. “The objective was to prolong the lifespan of the equipment and to be able to offer a wider range of application capabilities for our patients. We also decided to change our detachable table for a fixed table solution, which we are extremely happy with.”
