St Joseph’s Hospital in Newport, south Wales, held its second MRI Study Day for radiographers in June. Around 50 delegates from the NHS and private sectors were presented with a range of talks from experts on a variety of MRI subjects.
Starting the day was a talk from radiologist Dr Mark Robinson from Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, Gwent, on the hot topic of prostate MRI, explaining the importance of good scanning technique and grading of pathology. This was followed by lead of Swansea University’s MR Physics Safety Expert Group Dr Jonathan Phillips who explained the steps involved in scanning patients with cardiac implant devices safely.
Radiologist Dr Will Loughborough from Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust spoke about whole body diffusion MRI and what reporting radiologists look for in their images. Then St Joseph’s specialist radiographer Jenna Lilley gave the audience her best tips and tricks on whole body scanning technique.
St Joseph’s specialist radiographer Laura Taylor said of the event: “We’re really grateful that Bayer offered to sponsor our study day for the second year in a row, enabling us to extend invitations for this event to radiographers around south Wales and beyond. In-person CPD is so important to be able to share experiences and learn from one another.”
