Study day focuses on MR-SIM in radiotherapy

A study day called Clinical implementation of MR-SIM in radiotherapy’ was the first meeting organised by Philips UKI to focus on MR-SIM. Leading experts in the field came together to provide a comprehensive overview of the current and developing role of MRI in radiotherapy planning.
The programme opened with a presentation by Professor Nandita deSouza, professor of translational imaging and lead academic radiologist at The Institute of Cancer Research and The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. Professor deSouza’s subject was Clinical indications for MR imaging in radiotherapy: Current and future perspectives.’
Philips UKI MR clinical scientist David Higgins explained the principles of MR imaging, and this was followed by Professor Uulke van der Heide from the Netherlands Institute of Cancer and Leiden University Medical Center speaking on Geometric accuracy and quality assurance in MRI’. The morning sessions concluded with a presentation by Dr Marielle Philippens from the University Medical Center in Utrecht on MR implementation in RT: challenges, guidelines and timeline considerations’.
