The Cook Medical EMEA Planning Service, based in central London, consists of a team of radiographers along with an administrative assistant who deal with referrals from all over Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

“We are the bridge between the physician and the engineers. Each patient’s disease is unique to them. We take the information the customers give us and use it to plan and size a custom-made graft with the drafting team using computer-aided design (CAD) technology.”

During the 20 years the planning service has existed, the team has streamlined the process of designing a bespoke graft. Today, there is a turnaround time of just a couple of days from initial referral to sending the design to the physician. While digitalisation has played a role, close teamwork with colleagues in the field has also made a big difference. The senior clinical specialists have many of the preliminary discussions around what the doctors want. These valuable conversations make the process more streamlined.
