Ramsay Health Care UK and FUJIFILM Healthcare UK have built a strong partnership and the company’s technology plays an essential role in helping improve patient care and diagnostic accuracy across Ramsay’s hospital network.

FUJIFILM’s FDR Visionary Suite has undergone a major update, and this improved model has been installed in The Yorkshire Clinic, Bingley, part of the Ramsay group, in the first installation of this new imaging solution in the UK. The clinic was using an ageing CR x-ray room but recognised the need for a more efficient and fully digital solution. The new FDR Visionary Suite features a 12-inch LCD touch screen tube head that enables viewing of patient and exposure details. A camera has been integrated into the tube head, providing a live view of the patient, which includes features such as pre-exposure motion detection, last image retrieval, and overlays for the detector, automatic exposure controls and collimation on the live feed. An all-locks-released button for tube head movement is located at the bottom of the LCD screen, accompanied by a handle to aid in making precise adjustments to the tube’s position. Wireless positioning facilitates auto positioning anywhere in the x-ray room, while a compact generator console with straight edges enhances cleanliness.

Radiographer Ciara McPhilomy said: “Our new x-ray room offers us so many options in how we image and care for our patients. It also gives our staff and students confidence, as they can easily adapt between different imaging techniques.” A standout feature for the team is the Body Motion Detector, which alerts radiographers to patient movement between exposures, reducing retakes and minimising unnecessary radiation dose.

Radiographer Rhianna Hurd said: “It’s incredibly helpful to know if a patient has moved before taking the image, as it prevents unnecessary exposure and ensures we get it right the first time.” Diagnostic imaging manager Yassar Ali added: “We’ve really experienced FUJIFILM’s Proudly by Your Side motto throughout this whole process, from the initial plans to the finished installation. We required a few additional features, and my team experienced a big change moving from CR to DR, but the support and training from FUJIFILM has been amazing; any queries we had the applications specialists answered with full confidence.”

FUJIFILM’s partner Raybloc helped equip the room with the Sense-X Screen which provides protection and LED mood lighting. Hurd added: “The new design of our x-ray room presents a more welcoming feel. To put patients at ease I often ask them what their favourite colour is and change the LED lighting in the room to reflect this.”
