AI is evolving from a diagnostic support tool into an active participant in radiology workflows. As AI becomes increasingly embedded in image interpretation, prioritisation, reporting and care coordination, important questions are emerging around clinical accountability, governance, trust and patient safety.

AGFA HealthCare will contribute to the programme and engage with attendees on the exhibition floor. Global chief medical officer Dr Anjum Ahmed will deliver a thought leadership session examining the evolving relationship between radiologists, healthcare organisations, AI vendors and enterprise imaging platforms, and what it means when algorithms effectively become part of the digital care team.

Drawing on global experience in enterprise imaging, AI governance and clinical workflow transformation, the session will explore how healthcare organisations can move beyond focusing solely on algorithm performance to building safe, scalable and accountable AI-enabled imaging ecosystems.

Dr Ahmed’s presentation ‘When AI algorithms join clinical radiology in the NHS, who owns safety?’ will take place on June 29 in stream three. With over 25 years of experience in healthcare IT, he leads medical affairs at AGFA HealthCare, overseeing clinical risk assessment and advising on strategy, innovation and AI integration.

Attendees will gain practical insights into the shared responsibility models, human factors, workflow integration, post-deployment monitoring and governance frameworks needed to protect patient safety as AI adoption accelerates. Global chief clinical information officer Dr Nick Spencer will also attend, bringing a clinical perspective as a former NHS radiologist.
