Tomo biopsy is the future at Antrim hospital

HSL’s Alexis Davidson, radiographers Lorna Canavan and Clare Clarke, consultant radiologists Dr Gavin Gracy and Dr Clavin Ng and radiographer Fiona Brewster.
Antrim Area Hospital, part of the Northern Health and Social Care Trust, Northern Ireland, has purchased two Hologic Selenia Dimensions 3D mammography units with Affirm 3D biopsy device. Each unit was installed with C-View software and the ability to perform tomo biopsy procedures with the Affirm stereotactic device in both rooms.
Superintendent radiographer Janis Cameron said: “The tomo biopsy capability of the Affirm ensures that our patients undergo a faster, less stressful biopsy procedure. This capability is the future as far as we are concerned and its availability was something we were keen to have to keep ahead of the technology on offer.”
