Trainee and student award winners are announced

Philips Healthcare modality sales specialist Arshad Mohammed, Dr Cherry Sit and BIR president Dr David Wilson.
Winners of the BIR/Philips awards for trainees and students have been announced and applications are invited for next year’s awards.
Dr Mark Rodrigues, Dr Zeshan Qureshi and a team from the Royal Edinburgh Infirmary received the Trainee Award for Excellence for their guide to radiographic appearances which aims to provide an overview of radiology to medical students and junior doctors, with particular emphasis on how to approach plain x-rays and highlighting common/important abnormalities using high quality images.
The Student Travel Bursary provides £250 to attend a relevant training event and this year’s recipient was Dr Cherry Sit from King’s College Hospital who used the award to help her attend the British Nuclear Medicine Society conference.
Both awards are judged by the BIR Education Panel, which will include a representative from Philips. Only trainee or student members of the BIR are eligible to apply for these awards and the closing date for applications is February 28, 2016.
