Lecturers and participants on the training course.
A training course was held earlier this year to introduce virtual hysteroscopy with Fly Thru imaging to specialists from across Europe. Virtual hysteroscopy is a novel examination procedure in gynaecological ultrasound that was introduced by Bill Smith, head of Clinical Diagnostics Services (CDS), on Toshiba Medical Systems’ Aplio 500 ultrasound system.
The technique is based on the system’s Fly Thru imaging feature which uses 3D ultrasound volume data to reconstruct dynamic views from the inside of cavities of the human body such as vessels and cysts, or for application in gynaecological ultrasound, of the uterus and the fallopian tubes.
CDS cooperated with consultants Dr Raj Rai and Dr Mohammad Aziz from St Mary’s Hospital, London, and the Imperial College London, with support from Toshiba Medical Systems and Cook Medical Systems, to hold the first training course of its kind for European clinical specialists.
