UCLH experiences a great difference thanks to donated trolleys

Radiology Reporting Online (RRO) has donated three x-ray compatible patient movement trolleys to University College London Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.  The trolleys are used to move inpatients from the ward to the x-ray department.  Once patients are on these trolleys there is no need for further movement, which is particularly important for post-operative orthopaedic patients.

UCLH had been managing for over a year with one x-ray trolley, and when this trolley broke, staff began using normal trolleys which caused manual handling issues.

Superintendent Heather Groombridge said: “RRO gave us the opportunity to source three trolleys that have enhanced patient comfort, while reducing manual handling for porters and radiographers.  We received the trolleys in October and the difference they have made to the department is extremely noticeable.  Since they arrived we are able to image more patients with less stress to patient, porter and radiographer.”
