St James’s University Hospital, part of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, has installed two Ysio wi-D digital x-ray systems from Siemens Healthcare to assist chest imaging workflow in the hospital’s emergency department. In addition to wireless x-ray detectors for general imaging procedures, both systems feature a vertical Bucky for chest examinations, removing the need for patients to be transferred to the examination table.
“Installation of the systems has enabled us to manage high patient workflow from our emergency department and wards,” said principal superintendent for x-ray Jane Bewell. “Using a combination of the Bucky and the mobile wireless detector, we can x-ray most patients without removing them from a hospital trolley, minimising stress for those in a critical condition or with limited mobility.”
