Philips Healthcare has upgraded a Philips Intera 1.5T MRI to a state-of-the-art Achieva system at Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital. The hospital now has a faster system with substantial additional functionality.
Said Nuffield radiology manager Gary Jevon: “Referrers, radiologists and radiographers have all noticed a significant increase in the quality of the images produced by this centre since the upgrade. This can only be beneficial for our patients.”
The upgrade covered both the hardware and software, bringing the system to a 16 channel MRI scanner, including FreeWave, Philips data acquisition platform, plus seven new coils, Scan Tools Pro software and an upgrade of the workstation to an Extended WorkSpace with many new and improved applications.
In addition, all the existing software packages on the system were updated to the latest versions, bringing substantial additional functionality to the system.
The upgrade also expanded Philips’ ExamCard functionality and added SmartExam Brain and SmartExam Spine to enable automatic planning, scanning and processing of complete patient studies with a single mouse-click in brain and spine studies.
