Vascular procedures increase with Basildon’s upgrade

At Basildon Hospital, front row, are imaging sister Amanda Rhodes, imaging business manager Fiona Ryan, Philips regional project manager Steve Mathews and imaging sister Liz Summers.  Behind them are Philips regional general manager Ian Graves, consultant radiologist Dr Sami Khan, advanced practitioner radiographers Kay Spelman and Paul Jupe and account manager Paul Ringwald.

Basildon Hospital has replaced an existing fluoroscopy system with a state-of-the-art Philips MultiDiagnost Eleva with flat detector, and invested in its vascular analysis package.

Advanced practitioner radiographer Kay Spelman said: “The new system has enabled us to increase the number of vascular procedures carried out and accommodate general interventional procedures more easily.  Our existing service is now more efficient with improved image quality being a significant factor.

“The system is user friendly and the control console is easily understood, even by those who use the equipment infrequently.”
