Sonographers Mike Woodley and Steve Wilson.

Western Isles Hospital in the Outer Hebrides has received two Aplio 500 ultrasound systems and a Viamo portable scanner from Toshiba Medical Systems.  One Aplio will be used at the main hospital in Stornoway and the second is for radiology and obstetrics scanning at Uist and Barra Hospital, a satellite of the Western Isles Hospital on Benbecula Isle.  The A&E department at Stornoway will use the Viamo for FAST scans.

Sonographer Steve Wilson said: “We have a two-year-old Aplio that we bought for obstetrics and the image quality is what impressed us most about this machine.  We trialled the new unit in radiology for a few days and were again impressed with its performance over a range of examinations, so we were happy to order two Aplios for radiology in the Western Isles.”
