Philips MRI at Royal Hallamshire Hospital

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has installed a Philips Ingenia Elition 3.0T X MRI system at Royal Hallamshire Hospital. The trust conducts approximately 56,000 MR scans annually, focusing on advanced neuro and musculoskeletal imaging.

“The system streamlines our workflow and has significantly improved scan efficiency, allowing us to process more patients in less time,” said superintendent MRI radiographer Jonathan Dunning. “The design ensures that all features are just a click away, which is particularly beneficial when managing busy schedules. With faster scan times, reduced downtime and a user-friendly interface, our team works more effectively, ultimately increasing patient throughput while maintaining quality.”

MRI service manager Cheryl Waddle added: “This scanner has been a great asset to our department, working alongside the NordicNeuroLab system, which has enhanced the claustrophobic patient experience and reduced the rate of incomplete examinations. Our staff have found the interface great to use.”

Dunning continued: “We have established new services, including functional MRI, and improved existing ones. Our MSK team is now effectively utilising the bone window and nerve view sequences. The implementation of SmartSpeed with AI technology has greatly improved scan efficiency, making procedures faster.”
