Prompt refurbishment helps New Cross equip temporary CT room

Mount International United Services (MIUS) has assisted New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton, in setting up a temporary CT room. With just two weeks’ notice the MIUS team planned the project as requested.

New Cross Hospital had commissioned the refurbishment of an existing CT room and procurement of a new system. To ensure continued patient care, it was decided to convert an x-ray room into a temporary CT room. MIUS already had the opportunity to procure the redundant system and stepped in to assist the project, from removing existing equipment to adapting the x-ray room and providing a rental CT solution.

Head of operational radiology Stuart Simper said: “Everything went very smoothly, including fitting the injector. This project has been tight and we have also contributed to the delay while sorting out a RIS problem. The team on site have been great and very accommodating and MIUS has dealt with any problems rapidly to help it over the line.”

MIUS technical operations and programme manager Mandy Davis added: “We had to change the x-ray room into a temporary CT room, first dismantling the existing lead screen and building a fully lead-lined control room to meet all RPA requirements. Once this had been constructed, we scheduled the installation of the rental CT into the newly converted room and, after ensuring it was in full working order, MIUS worked on deinstalling the old CT. This had to be completed to allow appointed contractors to commence refurbishment of the existing CT room.”
