Southampton trust acquires five ultrasound systems for children’s rheumatology

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust has updated three Esaote ultrasound systems with the new MyLab X75 and its high frequency transducers, which are said to deliver outstanding image quality and Doppler sensitivity, as well as two MyLab Omegas, which are Esaote’s high end, portable, multidisciplinary ultrasound platform.

The MyLab Omegas will continue to take imaging into the community for paediatric patients in the region. Consultant paediatric rheumatologists cover outreach clinics across the region including Chichester, Salisbury, Winchester, Poole and Worthing. The MyLab X75 will be used in the children’s outpatient department.

Consultant paediatric rheumatologist Dr Alice Leahy said: “We are absolutely delighted with the new scanners. The X75 is sleek, user friendly and relatively compact. The resolution is fantastic and Esaote portable systems are a delight to use in our outreach clinics. We are now getting much higher quality images than previously. The whole team is very happy with the new fleet of scanners.”
