Nuffield Health Leeds cuts examination times

Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital was one of the first hospitals in the UK to install an Acuson SC2000 ultrasound system from Siemens Healthcare.  The SC2000 in the cardiology department is being used to carry out all echocardiograms as well as being the main ultrasound machine for all invasive and non-invasive tests.

As Siemens’ premier echocardiography system, the SC2000 is said to be among the first systems in the world to acquire non-stitched, real-time full-volume images of the heart in a single cycle.  Known as ‘Echo in a heartbeat’, this eliminates the need for ECG gating and breath holds to give more information in a shorter time.  

At Nuffield Health Leeds, the system replaced an older one and there are plans for it to be used for 3D ultrasound and 3D transesophageal echocardiograms.
