Toshiba staff pull together to gain certification

Toshiba Medical Systems UK md Mark Hitchman is presented with the OHSAS 18001 certificate by quality assurance manager Darryl Collin.

Building on its ISO 9001 quality management system and ISO 14001 environmental management certification, Toshiba Medical Systems has gained OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) management system certification.

Quality assurance manager Darryl Collin said: “We’ve grown rapidly over the past five years, but did not have a formalised OH&S system in place.

“We recognised that this needed to be addressed to keep employees safe.  In addition, we know that hospitals are becoming more aware of their sub-contractors’ responsibilities and would expect to see formalised systems for all OH&S issues.”

The benefits are expected to include a healthier, better-trained, more informed and more competent workforce; improved accident and incident investigation and reporting; and system-based preventative and corrective action.
