South Florida orthopaedic centre becomes first USA site to use Adaptix Ortho350 device

Medical imaging company Adaptix has carried out the first USA clinical installation of the Adaptix Ortho350 imaging system at Badia Hand to Shoulder Center in south Florida, which is led by hand and upper limb surgeon Dr Alejandro Badia.
Dr Badia becomes the first clinical user in the USA of the advanced 3D x-ray system for imaging orthopaedic injuries and conditions. It provides orthopaedic surgeons with detailed, high resolution 3D images for better visibility into tissues and bone structures at a lower radiation dose and cost than conventional CT.
“We have already seen a significant impact with this new technology,” said Dr Badia. “On the first day, I was able to rule out a hook of hamate fracture using the technology in the sagittal plane, that would normally have required a CT scan. Having this level of detail immediately, in the clinic, is a game changer. It allows us to make faster, more confident decisions and dramatically improves the experience for our patients.”
The Adaptix Ortho350 uses low dose tomosynthesis to generate detailed 3D images of extremities, enabling orthopaedic specialists to visualise complex anatomy and subtle injuries with great precision.
