ISIP founders set out to encourage a new era of collaboration between clinicians and industry

Submitted by Dr Saadat Ali, head of membership and communication, International Society of Industry Physicians (ISIP).
Healthcare is evolving rapidly. Physicians are no longer solely clinicians; they are increasingly advisors, innovators and leaders, working alongside industry to shape the technologies that will define the future of medicine. Nowhere is this more evident than in radiology, where the rapid advancement of AI is placing radiologists at the forefront of physician-industry collaboration, making radiology an early and prominent example of what this relationship will look like across medicine.
Yet despite this rapid evolution, the frameworks guiding these relationships remain fragmented, with no unified global structure to define standards, governance or responsible engagement. It was in response to this gap that ISIP was established. Founded by Professor Dr Ram Senasi, Dr Bart Claikens and Dr Venkat Sudigali, physicians who are at the intersection of clinical practice and innovation, ISIP aims to promote responsible collaboration while safeguarding professional integrity and patient trust.
ISIP’s global launch began earlier this year in India at the Indian Radiological Association meeting, before continuing with its European launch during the European Congress of Radiology in Vienna, Austria, where clinicians, innovators and industry leaders gathered to explore how collaboration can be strengthened. A clear theme emerged: the need for a neutral forum to define standards, expectations and governance at the healthcare-industry interface.
That interface is where ISIP is positioned. Collaboration between clinicians and industry can accelerate innovation and improve patient care, but only when underpinned by clear standards and professional accountability. As emphasised in Vienna, credibility in this space cannot be outsourced or assumed, it must be upheld by physicians themselves. ISIP provides an ethical framework offering clarity in practice while maintaining professional integrity, giving industry partners confidence that participating physicians are working to consistent, high standards. Through networking events, leadership roundtables and future summits, ISIP is building a global community focused on shaping how medicine and industry work together. Membership is free, reflecting the belief that a truly global physician community should have no barriers to entry. Ultimately, patients stand to benefit most. Clearer frameworks and greater transparency in physician-industry collaboration help ensure that innovation is guided responsibly and aligned with patient needs and, as healthcare continues to evolve, ISIP aims to ensure that relationship remains grounded in transparency, professional integrity and the interests of patients.
