Probo oversees 3D imaging upgrade to dental department at Somerset hospital

When the dental department at a hospital in Weston-super-Mare needed to replace its ageing Villa Rotograph Evo, Probo Medical managed the transition. The company delivered a well coordinated project that left the department with a more capable imaging system and minimal disruption to clinical operations.
Probo Medical engineer Matt Harris led the project from start to finish. Before any equipment moved, a survey confirmed room dimensions, wall fixings and cable routing, all important considerations when swapping a large floor-mounted imaging unit. The old system was carefully decommissioned and safely removed, with the room prepared for the incoming system. The DEXIS OP 3D digital imaging system was installed, positioned and calibrated to ensure geometric accuracy before any patient imaging took place. Staff received hands-on orientation with the new system before sign-off, so the department was confident and ready to use it from day one.
Probo says the upgrade itself represents a meaningful step forward. Where the Rotograph Evo offered reliable 2D panoramic imaging, the DEXIS OP 3D brings full multimodal capability, combining panoramic, cephalometric and 3D cone beam CT imaging in a single platform. “For a hospital team handling implant planning, surgical referrals and complex diagnostics, the additional capability changes what can be done in-house,” the company adds.
