Newham extends service to bariatric patients

At Newham University Hospital are head of radiology and clinical measurement Udesha Davids, Siemens Healthcare regional sales and corporate business manager Graham Walker, Barts Health NHS Trust chief operating officer Len Richards, chair of NHS East London and the City Marie Gabriel, Rt Hon Stephen Timms MP, lead consultant radiologist Dr Chinna Padmanathan, clinical director for diagnostics and clinical support Dr Kai Lee Tan, hospital managing director Diana Lacey and CT superintendent Paulson Daniel.
Newham University Hospital, part of the Barts Health NHS Trust, has installed a Somatom Definition Flash CT system from Siemens Healthcare.
The system is being used for a range of procedures including colonography and general head, chest and abdominal CT imaging. It has also allowed the trust to expand its offering to include bariatric patient imaging.
Said head of radiology and clinical measurement Udesha Davids: “We no longer have to send patients out of the trust and can accommodate bariatric patients for the first time. The image quality provides us with diagnostic confidence, plus with rapid scan times and low dose, the Definition Flash CT has improved the patient experience and imaging service.”
