Imaging staff at BMI The Harbour Hospital in Poole have started the year by welcoming a new £2 million imaging suite, including a Siemens Aera MRI wide bore scanner that was lifted into the imaging department just before Christmas by a 25-ton crane.

Made possible through an investment partnership between BMI Healthcare and Alliance Medical Limited the MRI/CT unit is planned to open in mid-February and will also house a GE Optima 660 64-slice CT scanner.

Executive director Dan Stonell said: “I am delighted that our patients will benefit from the most up-to-date technology available in this field.  The hospital will be able to more efficiently meet growing patient demand and provide a more convenient service.”
