Bristol children’s hospital adds to its digital x-ray provision

Seated are Philips Healthcare key account manager Jane Robinson, radiology assistant Francesca Dawson and receptionist Dawn Hicks. Standing, from left, are paediatric radiographer Hannah Archer, Paul Lawrence and Ian Williams from Kitto Construction Limited, Philips sales specialist DXR Stephanie Holden, paediatric radiographer Sophie Holl, receptionist Debra Chaffey and superintendent radiographer Elin Jones.
Bristol Royal Hospital for Children has invested in a second Philips DigitalDiagnost digital x-ray system. The equipment is a high performance room configuration, designed for increased throughput.
The hospital has been nominated as the centre for specialist paediatric services in the south west and numerous specialist services have been relocated there. By moving from CR to DR the hospital has been able to cope with the increased throughput, without increasing the number of x-ray rooms.
The hospital already has a DigitalDiagnost system. Superintendent radiographer Elin Jones said: “As with the first system, we selected it for its low dose imaging. Staff like the system and find it adaptable and easy to use. We also found the installation team very helpful, particularly as ours was a complex build – Philips worked hard to achieve an ergonomic room for us.”
