Seated are sonographer Abbie Salkeld and radiology assistant Sharon Livesey. Behind them are Toshiba Medical Systems ultrasound applications specialist Paula Connor, clinical lead ultrasound Julie White, sonographer Leigh Greenwood, radiology assistants Linda McDonough and Sobia Ishtiaq, sonographer Christine Spencer, Toshiba Medical Systems ultrasound sales specialist Lynn Parkington and student sonographer Louise Cowburn.
A replacement programme has seen the radiology department at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust invest in six Toshiba ultrasound systems across its two main sites, Royal Blackburn Hospital and Burnley General Hospital.
Clinical lead for ultrasound Julie White said: “This investment ensures our ongoing commitment to provide safe, personal and effective care. The department chose Aplio 500s and a Xario 200 to bring its modern departments up-to-date with high specification equipment.”
Three new Platinum Aplio 500 systems replaced units at Burnley Hospital, one in the main x-ray department and one in phase five x-ray department, as well as a machine in the Lancashire Women and Newborn Centre. At Blackburn, two systems replaced units in the antenatal clinic and the vascular lab. In addition, the Xario provides an extra scanner with improved imaging for mobile work.
