Advanced Ultrasound Electronics – defining the standard for ultrasound service

For over 20 years Advanced Ultrasound Electronics (AUE) has been defining the standard in ultrasound service, maintenance and training. AUE’s technical expertise has supported growth of the ultrasound service sector globally. Our leadership team have a clinical engineering background and have worked in NHS environments. Such hands-on experience sets AUE apart from other service companies. AUE is Europe’s leading ‘Back to Base’ portable ultrasound service provider, specialising in Philips, GE, Sonosite and Samsung systems. Our highly successful training division continues to provide training on cart-based and portable systems for MVS and hospital biomed engineers.
AUE specialises in ultrasound only
Concentrating on one imaging modality provides significant advantages to our customers. AUE is able to serve our customers’ needs more effectively, resulting in consistently high satisfaction scores. The cornerstone to this success is our advanced testing laboratory based in Loughborough – the first in the country to be ISO 13485:2016 certified. This underpins our culture of providing a high quality service across all AUE operations.
While other service companies cover more than one imaging modality, AUE’s specialism enables us to work more efficiently, therefore reducing costs. We work with our customers to provide high quality multi-vendor ultrasound service and maintenance at an affordable price, with a typical saving of 25 per cent against equivalent OEM service contracts. AUE is an approved supplier to NHS Frameworks.
Commitment to innovation – embedded ultrasound quality assurance
AUE’s engineering expertise is always improving. We are committed to continued innovation in the ultrasound service sector. With large growth forecast across the industry and the increased use of POCUS, we have become increasingly active in embedding routine ultrasound Quality Assurance into imaging departments. We are delighted to announce that AUE has partnered with Multi-Medix, the industry leader in ultrasound QA, to offer embedded ultrasound quality assurance as part of our Back to Base and field service contracts – an industry first.
Our maintenance contracts with embedded QA will not only reduce the time needed for scheduled PPMs, they also detect early faults, enabling us to arrange component replacement prior to failure. The result is more scanning time at reduced cost.

Growing our team
Our success means that the AUE team will grow by 25 per cent over the next 12 months with some pivotal appointments already made.
In April 2022 we appointed Carl Bowtell as our managing director. Carl is recognised globally throughout the independent service sector and joined AUE in June 2020 as our Commercial Director. His presence at AUE augments our customer-focused culture and substantially increases our service capability. Throughout his career in healthcare Carl has consistently advocated one of AUE’s core values, this being that competition and choice promotes value for money and better outcomes for patients. Effective cost control is essential to delivering high quality competitively priced service. Carl’s competence in this area, coupled with AUE’s in-house ISO 13485:2016 certified repair capabilities, means AUE’s ability to control its costs guarantees our ability to deliver great value service without compromising on quality.
“October is an important month for the ultrasound community AUE belongs to,” reflects Carl. “It is Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month – a perfect time to consider the growing role of diagnostic ultrasound as a transformative and affordable tool that improves patient outcomes. I aim to ensure AUE differentiates itself from other service providers by providing the customer, and their patients, with an unmatched combination of cost and quality.”
AUE remains an independent, owner operated UK business, with strong, controlled growth. We have recently recruited three customer service representatives and are now further expanding our field service operation. If you are interested in joining AUE we would love to hear from you. We are recruiting additional sales managers, bid managers, service engineers and call handlers.
Professionally managed ultrasound equipment – the sustainable choice
We have a dedicated customer service team waiting to help and advise you. We sell our services direct, and NHS customers have the option of accessing our multi-vendor ultrasound service contracts through the NHS Frameworks. AUE offers one point of contact and one, easy to manage, contract. This ensures scanning time is maximised, costs are reduced and sustainability targets are met.
If you would benefit from expertly and professionally managed ultrasound equipment with patient safety and cost-effectiveness at the forefront, please contact Carl Bowtell to discuss how AUE can work in partnership with you or visit www.aueltd.co.uk to find out more.
