This book, written by established thoracic radiologists in the US, contains 577 pages of beautifully illustrated radiology, histopathology and anatomical line images supplemented by easy-to-understand text covering the important pathological and imaging features of a host of different conditions falling under the ‘pathological sieve’ and even some rare conditions. It includes PETCT images, where relevant.
The chapter on fundamentals of HRCT is outstanding and the accompanying illustrations are first rate. The reader needs to get a full grasp of anatomical considerations before understanding HRCT patterns and this section more than achieves that aim. The text and illustrations of the secondary pulmonary lobule are superb.
The remainder of the book describes in some detail, and organisation, every condition likely to be encountered when carrying out HRCT of the lung. The radiology images – plain film and HRCT – are of the highest quality. The text is laid out methodically and is highly relevant without being over-exhaustive.
The useful digital version (included with the hardback) enhances the accessibility of the book with high quality enlarged images, adaptable fonts, backgrounds and read-aloud audio options. The reader can also make use of bookmarks, notes and flashcard features.
This book is outstanding, and it would be ideal for every career chest radiologist and radiology department to own at least one copy.
