Bournemouth updates its CT scanner to bridge gap

Advances in technology have led Royal Bournemouth Hospital to replace a scanning workhorse with a Toshiba Aquilion CXL CT system.

Superintendent radiographer CT and MRI Matthew Benbow explained: “Our dilemma was that we had a very hard working 16-slice scanner which, although reliable and working well, was being left behind by the technology offered by our Toshiba Aquilion One.

“We had a discrepancy between the two scanners in terms of acquired slice collimation, speed differential, and also patient dose, fortunately there was no clinical need for us to choose an ultra top-end scanner as the Aquilion One has this covered.  The Aquilion CXL therefore fitted the bill perfectly.
