Challenging equipment removal sees CT craned through upper floor window

A Philips Ingenuity 128 CT scanner has been removed from an imaging centre in St Pölten, Austria by Future Medical Equipment.

Following a site survey the company took on the de-installation and removal of the CT while MEDSER Medical Services of Germany arranged the logistics of the project such as organising the site survey and removal date, coordinating on-site activities with the owner of the system, the crane and road blocking.

Weighing approximately 10 tonnes, the equipment had to be removed through an upper floor window onto a narrow pedestrian street. It was craned out of the first level during the evening so that no patients or staff were disrupted.

MEDSER project manager Stefan Möller said: “I have worked with Future Medical several times in the past and together we provided smooth-running projects and skillful and reliable performance to owners of systems. I am very happy to collaborate with the company as this allows us to get access to problematic projects such as St Pölten.”

Future Medical senior de-installations engineer Dave Thomas added: “We often de-install fragile medical equipment out of awkward exit routes, but this one was unusual. However, it’s never impossible with our exceptionally knowledgeable and experienced team of experts – we enjoy the challenge.”
