Derriford Hospital improves comfort for prone patients

University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust has received an Adept Medical Prone Support, supplied by Rothband Medical Solutions. Installed in Derriford Hospital’s interventional suite, it is ideal for supporting and managing prone patients, providing comfortable positioning during image-guided procedures, says Rothband. The height and angle of the face support can be adjusted, allowing for a range of patient and procedural requirements, and can be removed completely to suit specific patient needs. Clinical project manager IR Lisa Dunn said: “This will be a valuable addition for our cohort of patients that need frequent nephrostomy tube changes in the prone position, enabling better patient comfort and safety during the procedure. This was introduced as a quality improvement project.”
The arm-supporting surface is cantilevered for a variety of patient sizes and mobility ranges. The support is placed underneath the mattress using the baseboard design, and held in place by the patient’s weight. This allows efficient set-up and removal on any imaging table without needing attachment screws or clamps.
