Huddersfield Royal boosts radiology facilities with cardiac enabled CT

Seated are CT radiographer Maria Jedrzejczak, radiology assistant Danielle Lewis and CT advanced practitioner Catherine Driver.  Standing are Toshiba Medical Systems account executive Graham King, applications specialist Heather Dring, CT radiographers Debra Unshorn and Victoria Woodward, CT lead radiographer Lucy Thomson and consultant radiologist Dr Heshan Panditaratne.

Huddersfield Royal Infirmary has acquired a Toshiba Aquilion Prime CT scanner which will enable it to offer the latest techniques, including cardiac imaging.  As well as being cardiac enabled, the equipment comes with an advanced interventional package and a cross-site Vitrea Advanced thin-client solution.

The Aquilion Prime combines fast scanning in conjunction with high speed reconstructions, allowing images to be instantly available for review before the patient leaves the examination room.  State-of-the-art hardware technology and advanced clinical applications provides improved patient care across a broad spectrum of clinical cases.

CT lead radiographer Lucy Thomson said: “Having previously had a Toshiba scanner, we knew already they are very reliable machines and we were also familiar with the functions, which reduced the training period.  We like the speed, reliability and ease-of-use of the new system, which is helping us improve our throughput and reduce waiting lists.”
