Image quality is first class on John Radcliffe’s ultrasound system

John Radcliffe Hospital, part of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, has used charitable funds to purchase a Philips Epiq 7 ultrasound system for its paediatric cardiology unit.  It will help children with heart defects and look at heart muscle function in children undergoing cancer treatment.

Congenital cardiac physiologist Anne Banning said: “We have been very pleased with the scanner and particularly its versatility.  We are obtaining first-class images on all our patients from tiny babies to larger teenagers.  In addition, the software packages allow us to carry out more in-depth analysis for ventricular function, including 3D volume and strain analysis.  This is especially useful in our paediatric oncology patients.

“The controls on the Epiq are easy to use, even the sophisticated 3D packages.  We are absolutely sold on our new system, and the support and exceptional teaching we have received from the Philips’ team has been second-to-none.”
