Mammography chair helps patients feel more comfortable

Radiographic assistant Jenny Cowdrill, senior mammographer Natalie Dolan, consultant radiologist Dr Anja Maibaum and Wolverson X-ray sales manager Gurpal Matharu.

Royal Bournemouth Hospital’s breast screening unit has taken delivery of an Akrus mammography chair, a multi-functional examination chair that is mobile in all directions and has a battery operated height adjustment.

Senior mammographer Natalie Dolan said: “It is great to have this new chair and it is incredibly easy to use. Patients seem much more comfortable during procedures and as mammographers, the electronic mechanisms help with our manual handling and posture. A massive thank you to our local breast cancer charity, Going for Bust, for donating the money to purchase the chair. It is a fantastic charity that continues to help fund items for our department.”
