GE HealthCare is continuing its collaboration with the National Imaging Academy Wales (NIAW) in 2024 with a joint programme of symposiums and classroom learning sessions for the local radiography workforce. The programme began in April with a CT symposium, with presentations focusing on how to optimise equipment usage and improve patient care.
This was closely followed by MRI classrooms, starting with protocol optimisation. Attendees gained experience in manipulating sequences and protocols to enhance their scans and improve image quality using cutting-edge technologies such as ARDL (Artificial Intelligence-based Deep Learning) and AirX (Automated Image Recognition). Half-day sessions were held for MRI prostate and breast imaging. These classrooms included anatomy refreshment, a review of current guidelines, protocol building, post processing and a review of how para-meters affect dose and image quality.
In addition, two days of CT classrooms for nuclear medicine users reviewed how parameters can affect dose and image quality. The aim of these classrooms is to enable nuclear medicine departments to utilise their GE gamma camera and PETCT for diagnostic CT.
