Northampton General Hospital has begun a £5 million radiotherapy replacement programme with the first of three TrueBeam systems from Varian Medical Systems that will be backed up by a range of quality assurance technology.

Clinical scientist Debbie Holmes explained: “It’s a busy time in radiotherapy as we start our replacement programme with the first of three TrueBeam systems.  Along with new machines we have purchased some equipment for commissioning and QA, including the Sun Nuclear 3D Scanner, ArcCheck with 3DVH, 1D Scanner, Daily QA3, SNC Machine and a suite of CheckMate 2’s and PC Electrometers.

Holmes continued: “Our biggest investment was the 3D Scanner and we’re really impressed with it.  It took a bit of getting used to a round water tank, but it is so quick and easy to set up, and the software is easy to use from setting up scan queues to batch processing scanned data for analysis.”

Sun Nuclear products are available in the UK from Imaging Equipment Limited.
