Therapeutic and diagnostic radiography both represented at London careers fair

The third annual radiography careers fair hosted by Kingston University and St George’s, University of London, was the biggest so far as more than 80 radiography students, 25 NHS trusts and a range of private organisations attended. This was the first time employers from the fields of both therapeutic and diagnostic radiography were present.
The fair gives students the chance to meet prospective employers and discover job and placement opportunities during and after their studies. Held at St George’s, it is said to be one of the biggest radiography-related career events in the south of England and is organised by the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Education, run jointly by Kingston and St George’s.
Head of the School of Allied Health, Midwifery and Social Care at Kingston and St George’s Professor Iain Beith said: “It was amazing to see so many colleagues from practices across London and the Home Counties who can help facilitate the transition from studying to full-time work. I observed many positive conversations between students and employers and it’s great to start that process early on – before graduation.”
Senior lecturer in diagnostic radiography at Kingston and St George’s Michael Dean was encouraged by the feedback from students and employers. “Our radiography careers fair has continued to expand and is always a yearly highlight. It allowed our students to consider career pathways and, with the support of our partner organisations, we hope these initial conversations develop into future employment opportunities for our students,” he said.
