Lung cancer screening programme adds latest CT technology for the community

A Somatom go.UP from Siemens Healthineers will be installed on a mobile.

Medical charity Cobalt has signed an agreement to bolster its cancer diagnostic capabilities.  A Somatom go.Up from Siemens Healthineers is being installed onto a Lamboo Medical mobile trailer as part of plans by the NHS in Manchester to introduce mobile lung cancer screening.

The programme, announced last year by NHS England, will fund mobile CT scanners to screen smokers and ex-smokers in three more parts of the country.  The Lung Health Check pilot scheme in Manchester was able to significantly raise early diagnosis rates by offering on-the-spot scans in some of the city’s most deprived boroughs.
