Enhanced CT capacity improves the patient experience at Singleton Hospital

News
Philips CT at Singleton Hospital

Singleton Hospital, Swansea, has installed a Philips Big Bore RT CT system with Ambient Experience, to help the team strengthen service efficiency and improve the experience for patients attending CT scans as part of their radiotherapy pathway.

Principal clinical scientist Adam Selby said: “Having a second machine will significantly increase our capacity for cancer patients who require a CT scan as part of their radiotherapy planning. The sooner a patient can undergo their CT simulation, the sooner their treatment can begin.”

Alongside increased capacity, the Philips Ambient Experience plays an important role in supporting patient wellbeing. Through immersive lighting, calming visuals and music, the environment is designed to reduce anxiety and create a more welcoming, less clinical space. CT pre-treatment manager Helen Streater added: “We’ve seen a noticeable difference in how relaxed patients are when entering the scanning room.”
