The Walton Centre finds Adept’s IR support table enables efficiency improvements and easy cleaning

The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust in Aintree, Liverpool, has taken delivery of a support table that provides a large, stable area for catheter and guidewire manipulation and management. The trust is a leader in the treatment and care of neurology and in neurosurgery.
Rothband supplied the Adept Medical IR Platform, which offers a height adjustable work surface that aligns with the femoral access site and improves patient comfort by eliminating the need to work directly on or around the legs.
Designed to be light, strong and radiolucent, the platform is easy to install by placing over the legs of a supine patient on the imaging table. It can be locked in place to ensure security when the patient is restless. Smooth surfaces and uncomplicated fittings make cleaning simple, while an optional hanging bracket enables storage on a wall.
“Purchasing the Adept Medical IR Platform has enabled the intervention team to work much more efficiently, especially during mechanical thrombectomy where time is so important,” principal radiographer for neurointervention Sally Flintham said. “When compared to our previous sliding catheter support table, it is much lighter from a manual handling point of view, easier to place and there are far less system components that may need repair.
“Anaesthetic infusion lines are at less risk of being disrupted since the table is placed over the patient and is not permanently connected to the patient table. Height adjustment is easy, and from an infection control point of view the table is very easy to clean as it has a completely flat, smooth surface.”
