First patient screened at East Kent with MicroDose

East Kent Breast Screening Service has screened the first patient with its MicroDose L30 digital mammography system. The new Philips technology is installed in a mobile trailer as part of an upgrading of mammography screening and is one of three units operated by the service.
MicroDose L30, which replaced analogue systems, is said to have been well-received by users as it assists in relieving the stresses of repetitive strain injury, a common hazard for mammographers.
Canterbury senior mammographer Debbie Bateman said: “The new equipment is a wonderful aid to mammographers and almost totally relieves the stresses of repetitive strain injury, a serious disadvantage with conventional machines.”
