NHS Lothian’s disc storage offers greater security

NHS Lothian has purchased three Rothband MARS DVD/CD productions systems for use at Western General Hospital, Edinburgh, the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and St John’s Hospital at Howden, Livingston.

Western General Hospital PACS manager Peter O’Byrne said: “Our previous Dicom burner was an obsolete system that did not meet our radiology department’s needs.  I was keen to deliver a more professional and corporate looking system for NHS Lothian radiology which would automatically print customised CDs and DVDs with Dicom fields such as patient name, study description, date, modality etc.  None of these features were available with the previous system.

“The Rothband MARS system has given us the ability to produce encrypted media which we did not have and now provides NHS Lothian with added data security and patient confidentiality.”
