Bespoke digital upgrade enables imaging to be viewed immediately

Imaging speed at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust has been significantly improved following the digital upgrade of its radiography systems by Konica Minolta.

Eleven mobile x-ray units at the trust have been converted to the AeroSync system, which provides a fully portable digital plate and review console.  The technology allows panels to automatically detect x-rays and capture an image without the need for a wired connection, speeding up imaging with no impact on quality.

Head of radiology physics Chris Koller said: “AeroSync will provide a very convenient and cost-effective way of upgrading our existing radiography system.  It will allow images to be viewed immediately when taken on the ward and sent directly for archiving.  Any technical repeats will also be very quick and easy to undertake, and line placements could potentially be viewed and adjusted immediately.”
