Clinicians at Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre (BHOC) are confronting the problem of intra-fraction prostate motion with Elekta’s Clarity solution for prostate monitoring.  This ultrasound-based system is said to enable the acquisition of exceptional soft tissue images of the prostate and allows continuous tracking of its position during beam delivery.  BHOC began using Clarity monitoring in December and was the first in the UK to use the solution.

“Clarity uses an innovative transperineal approach to scanning, offering a new way to visualise the prostate and surrounding anatomy,” says deputy radiotherapy services manager Petra Jacobs. “It is also a painless and completely non-invasive procedure for patients.”
