Easy to clean touch screen meets infection control

Pictured following the handover of a GE Healthcare Venue 50 ultrasound system to the emergency department at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London, are GE ultrasound sales specialist Corné Swart, healthcare assistant Ryan Delaney, lead consultant emergency department Dr Michelle Earby and staff nurse Hamd Fadega.
The system is the latest addition to the company’s point of care ultrasound portfolio and offers the simplicity of a tablet, fast boot up time and precise imaging. The hospital has also taken delivery of three Venue 50 portable ultrasound systems for the ITU and acute assessment unit.
Dr Earby said: “Our Venue 50 is proving very popular with the emergency medicine doctors. It is compact and easy to manoeuvre within a confined environment. Image quality is excellent and start-up time is minimal. The touch screen feature makes it easy to clean – a requirement of our infection control – and therefore ideal for use in procedures requiring ultrasound guidance in the emergency department.”
