Esaote celebrates 40 years of advancing technology

Diagnostic imaging specialist Esaote is celebrating 40 years in business. The Italian company has its headquarters in Genoa and focuses on innovation, research and technology. It was launched in 1982 and now has a presence in 100 countries. The ultrasound system used by NASA in the early 1990s for the cardiovascular examinations of astronauts flying on the Space Shuttle was manufactured by Esaote. In addition, the first MRI system dedicated to the limbs was developed by Esaote as well as the fusion imaging technology.

Guests from all over the world attended an event held at the Carlo Felice Theater in Genoa entitled ‘Imaging the future, everyday. Forty years of innovation for health since 1982,’ which helped kick off a week of celebrations.

“We are very proud to celebrate 40 years in business and to be able to share this milestone with our founders, with those who have worked with us all these years and with young colleagues who are our future,” said ceo Franco Fontana.

“This event comes at the end of a period of great complexity, both for our market and for the whole world, during which Esaote has never stopped investing and innovating, trying to pursue its objectives of growth and research of new products. These efforts allowed us to close the 2021 financial year in an extremely positive way, with consolidated revenues up to €231.3 million (up five per cent compared to 2020) and order collection up by 18 per cent compared to the previous year.”

The group employs more than 1,250 people, 20 per cent of whom are engaged in research and development. Over the past year, the company’s workforce has grown by eight per cent worldwide.
